Conversation lesson: About life
Students: Addar, Anatoly Megi (Europe, Asia)
Teacher: Kori Blaisdale (UK)
This lesson was supposed to be a singing and
dancing event but we got talking and shared what’s new in our life. It was a
great opportunity just to talk in English. Addar was talking about his job and
how his career is taking off (he has started being very successful). Kori is
coming back to the UK from the sunny Martinique. I think she will notice the
change in the temperature very soon. )))
I told them about a trip to Snowdonia in
Wells. The Welsh like to over-exaggerate about their mountains. That’s what
happened to me. The peak of Snowdonia – Snowdon it’s not really big mountain
but when I asked in the information centre how long it would take to climb it,
I was told that it would take 7 hours! ….K2 was a piece of cake (very easy)
compared to the Welsh mountains……))) In reality it’s quite small and it doesn't
take more than 2 hours walking in a very slow pace….)))We found it totally
hilarious.
There is a film about Welsh people and how
much they are proud of their mountains. It’s a lovely film called ‘The
English man who went up a hill and came down a mountain.’ I would
recommend seeing this film.
We also talked about people who travel a lot
and love living in different countries and how great it is meeting new people
and experiencing different cultures. Kori, having a lot of experience with this
style of life agreed and added; ‘You are preaching to the choir’ (trying to
convince people who are already convinced).
It was nice just to talk and get to know my
fellow students and the teacher better.
