A drunken nun

Yes that was a theme for this lesson. Zeb, our tutor read us an article about an event in Ireland. The event had a good cause, but unfortunately didn’t end up so well for some. Well, especially for one person – the pub owner Christy Walsh. He was fined  700 euros for breaking afterhour drinking laws. Firstly the event: More than 1400 people got together in a little town in Ireland and all were dressed up as nuns. And they were really geared up for this occasion – a black veil, habit, black socks and tights. This whole show was a very charitable one. All the money went to a charity that raises awarness of selfharming and suicide.  The people dressed as nuns gathered in a football field and were counted. Their record of the largest gathering of nuns was noted into the Guiness Book of records. Unfortunately the Irish nuns needed to get refreshed after such a heroic task and more than 50 ended up in a local pub. They didn’t manage to finish up their drinks and police caught them redhanded past closing time. The owner took it quite well, even though the pub was raided twice in one night. That’s what I call a bad luck. I hope it doesn’t discourage him and he will carry on with his charitable work. Good job Chris!
We were going through this article, checking our understanding and discussing it.
