Negotiations



This lesson was about the art of negotiating. At the beginning we received a notecard that laid out the whole structure of the lesson. Firstly we held a discussion about what makes a good negotiator. I personally think it’s quite a tough job to be good in negotiating and not everyone is able to do it.
Furthermore we clarified some terminology that is used within the field of negotiation, such as ‘Bid Ask Spread’ etc.
Next we watched a video that gave us some tips on how to be a good negotiator. Our task was answering given questions about the video. The questions were aimed to check our understanding of the video.
Lastly we were given an opportunity to try our negotiating skills in practice. Delia, our tutor, set up a task where we were supposed make a deal between two companies. It was quite a good fun, but we didn’t succeed as we got to a sticking point, where none of the parties were willing to lessen their requirements. The lesson was interesting but I think that our negotiating skills need some more improvement.
