There are rats all over the place

Dnešní událost začala poněkud netradičně, když jsme měli za úkol se rozhlédnout po domě a při tom jsme zjistili, že jsou v něm krysy, mravenci a švábi. První úkol tedy přesně zněl: „Have a look around the house, what problems can you see and where?“

-          an infestation of ants in the living room.
-          rats all over the place
-          cockroaches in the bathroom

Pak jsme přešli k úkolu číslo dvě:

„Decide on a solution using the other notecard. Everyone must agree!“

Přečetli jsme si text, který jsme dostali, skládal se ze čtyř nabídek různých firem na likvidaci domácích škůdců. Po důkladném pročtení tohoto materiálu jsme celou problematiku diskutovali.

Během čtení článků jsme však narazili na několik neznámých slovíček, které nám však naše lektorka ochotně objasnila:

Go off = explode (the bomb goes off, the alarm goes off)

Humane /hjúmejn/ - oposite of cruel
Fancy = special
To be blown away = to be totally surprised (in a good way)
To be out of pocket = to be without money
bug - insect
blaster – gun, poison, a thing that kills
biggest and baddest: bad- the worst: the baddest - the most cruel / the meanest
chemical warfare - warfare = the way you do war
to get rid of - to make it go away (we get rid of our rubbish)
to relocate - to move
to set up - to arrange
to wipe out - to destroy completely

Event byl opravdu fantastický a díky lektorce jsem se naučila mnoho nových slovíček.
