Writing lesson:  Will babies be genetically modified?

Teacher: Iffag Ling

Students: Hasan Mert, Mikki Linn, Ayse Lastchance (Asia, Europe)

This lesson was a writing lesson. We got different topics and were supposed to write few sentences.

One of the topics was whether We will find a life in other solar systems?

And Mikki Lynn wrote this.

[13:13] Mikki Linn: Will we find life in other solar systems? I am practically certain about this; the only question, however is if this life will be intelligent. To find something like dumb slugs is not a very exciting idea, is it? Besides, intelligent life can be something we are not expect to encounter. Does it need to have body to be intelligent? - What about intelligent electromagnetic field for example?

There were other interesting topics such as Will robots take over the world?

[13:13] Hasan Mert: hmm.. Well nice topic, of course it’s possible. i agree with computer or robots can captured world. that topic realized me a movie, maybe you can already know this movie, "I robot". Robots can capture world. Then they started the kill humans.

 [13:13] Hasan Mert: . A cop who has a artificial i mean robot arm has awake about this situation, and he was trying to awake people. I think can happen everything that we can consider about that.

 [13:13] burak Hurricane: Most of people knows Albert Einstein and his theories .In addition relativity is his theory and it is about time travel or space and time .It is really complex theory and in my opinion , if science solve this problem ,we will do time travel.

[13:29] Mikki Linn: People will learn to travel with the speed of light. I doubt it very much because there are some fundamental limitations. We need infinite amount of energy to propel our rocket with the speed of light.

My topic was Babies will be genetically modified

Do you remember the film called Gattaca? It’s about a not too distant future, where future children are carefully selected with the help of genetics in order to create a superior human being. Fiction? Ten years ago Ten years ago maybe...It slowly is beginning to become a true. At the moment the babies are usually being checked for mental illnesses and some disfiguration….that can be the beginning of the genetic selection. What’s next? ….We will see.

It was a great lesson not only I practised my English but I learned many new interesting things.
