IELTS Preparation
Students: Anatoly, Ewa Highwater, Ginnie Lastchance, Mikki Lynn, Leslie, Andriy Ahsland, Maria Lyric (Europe, Asia, South America)
Teacher: Lowri Mills (USA)

I absolutely loved this lesson. It was filled with various exercises and even though there were quite a lots of people in the class, we all got chance to talk.
Firstly we introduced each other and said something about ourselves and introduced the person sitting next to us by saying something totally made up about them.
So for example Maria likes getting up in the morning and collecting frogs. Mikki Lynn likes surfing high waves near Hawaii. He’s waiting for the ultimate high wave.
Our next exercise was to find an extra word in sentences like these.
 1. Where is my so ESL book?
2. Are you going to the party at the Evelyn’s house?
3. I'm play tennis every Saturday.
4. She has 3 cats, and 2 dogs and 5 hamsters.
Have you found them? )))
What is logical? – 2nd exercise
If the sentence is logical leave it; if it is not, change one word in the sentence to make it logical.
My friend is polite - she always says 'Please' and 'Thank you'. - Logical!
My friend is very stupid - she always gets grade A in her tests. - Illogical!
Correction: My friend is very clever -she always gets grade A in her tests. - Logical
And now try these:
I went to the shop and brought a new record.
The neighbour's cat barks all night - I never get enough sleep.
My grandmother lives in a beautiful cage on the edge of town.
We took turns to explain which sentences are logical or illogical.
The last exercise we had to do was to write the middle of the story. The beginning says where and when the story happens.
SALLY'S PROBLEM
Sally sat at the back of the classroom, looking out of the window. She didn't hear what the teacher said because she was thinking about her big problem……
The middle tells what the big problem is….that’s what we were supposed to write (we had few minutes to think of an idea and then write it down. This was mine….
Her big problem was her little pimple right in the middle of her forehead....How on earth is she going to go to the party looking like that?? Mary, her friend, still hasn’t called. She was supposed to lend her a new amazing make up that covers everything even very red pimples. Suddenly the phone rang!
The CONCLUSION tells how the story ends.
Sally jumped up and ran to the phone. She just knew everything was going to be alright again.
